Whale Watching in Byron Bay

Whale watching is something extraordinary. It’s impossible to put down in words. It’s a feeling. It’s an experience. The song of the whale, the presence of the whale is so primal that something deep in your blood and deep in your ancient understanding wakes up and says, “WOW … I get it”. They are mythical [...]

Spontaneous sculpture show at Brunswick Heads

Spontaneous sculpture show at Brunswick Heads

There’s nothing like a spontaneous communal free sculpture exhibition with audience participation to lift the spirits and dispel the laments and cries of, “the terrible, terrible night the beach at Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads was washed away and all its fury and debris slung at the shore in place of squeaky white sand.”
So what [...]

Byron Bay Beach Bums in Winter Woolies

Byron Bay Beach Bums in Winter Woolies

Phew … It’s winter in Beautiful Byron Bay. It means crisp cold evenings by a wood burning fire. It means soothing red wines and hot rich food as apposed to cold beers and the barbie. It appeals to my European roots.  The food choices in Byron are amazing and every taste bud is catered for. [...]

Byron Bay Beauties

Here they come the beautiful ones …
I have been avoiding the subject; it feels a little exposing (and that’s the subject). I feel I might be misunderstood when I speak of what I cannot speak about. When I even hint at what I want to say I blush in beautiful Byron Bay. I guess I [...]

Byron Bay Property News December 2009

NEWS ON THE STREET
The property market in the Byron area remains very strong. September and October were actually stronger than November, which is strange, as November is usually a strong selling month. Quality and correct pricing is not lasting long. The latest interest rate rise and the dropping of the FHOG booster is not fazing [...]

Tyagarah Lake and Smelly Ants in your Pants

There used to be a little secret in Byron Bay - then it hit the internet and it’s not such a secret anymore. But it still has the whisper of a secret. It’s an oasis of tea-tree wonder. It’s a pristine lake - the colour of Golden Syrup or well brewed silky tea. It’s free [...]

Safe Swimming In Byron Bay Or When To Get Out Of The Water

Safe Swimming In Byron Bay Or When To Get Out Of The Water

There are very few places in Australia with the sub-tropical climate of Byron Bay that offer in equal measure superb beaches and pastoral hinterland and teaming  rain-forests. Byron is unique because Byron Bay is nestled in front of beautiful mountain ranges that tumble into the sea. Mount Chincogan and Mount Warning loom and follow you [...]
